The Supreme Court will hold a proclamation ceremony on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. to announce the celebration of Nebraska Probation Week: July 21-25, 2025. The Judicial Branch ceremony will be held and streamed live from the courtroom in the State Capitol.

The Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court commemorated its 90th anniversary with a special event held in Courtroom No. 1 of the court's office on Lincoln Mall. The gathering honored the court’s storied past, recognized the contributions of judges and staff currently serving, and looked ahead to the future of the Workers' Compensation Court in the state.

In observance of the holiday, Court and Probation Offices will be closed on 5/26/2025.

A record-setting number of students gathered in the Kearney High School auditorium on April 29, 2025, to observe the Nebraska Supreme Court in action during its annual Law Day session. This marked the Court’s first-ever visit to Kearney High, made possible by an invitation from Principal Jeff Ganz.

Nearly 600 students from Kearney were joined by 70 Minden High School seniors, along with several dozen community members, as the auditorium transformed into a temporary courtroom.

In observance of Arbor Day, Court and Probation Offices will be closed on 4/25/2025.

Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) Hall County Team, District 9 Chief Probation Officer Marc Kohmetscher, Hall County Sheriff Rick Conrad, Hall County Attorney Martin Klein, Judge Alfred Corey and Judge Brian McQuay, both from Hall County Court, and District 9 JDAI Coordinator James Schulte.

National Interpreter Appreciation Day recognizes the essential role interpreters play in facilitating communication among individuals who speak different languages or use alternative communication methods, such as sign language. Interpreter partners of the Nebraska Judicial Branch serve a critical role in ensuring access to vital services, enabling meaningful participation in judicial processes, and fostering effective interactions.

This 2025 Supreme Court Problem-Solving Court Month proclamation ceremony will spotlight the work of Nebraska’s veterans treatment courts. Special guest speakers for the April 30, event include Alyssa Bourbon of Kearney, a graduate of the Veterans Treatment Court and a successful business owner. Bourbon will share her personal story and speak about the life-changing impact of the program. Joining her is Major General Daryl Bohac, former Adjutant General of the Nebraska National Guard.

Supreme Court Electronic Exhibits Working Group, Deputy State Court Administrator Amy Prenda, Judicial Branch IT Program Director Sherri Dennis, IT Applications Analyst Sue Nieto, IT Contract Application Developer Mary Putnam, and IT Contract Developer Nate Liew.

This dedicated team worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between IT program language and court process language. Through countless weekly meetings, they resculpted and diagrammed the flow of documents and exhibits to benefit the entire Nebraska Court System.

The United States officially recognizes this day each year to celebrate the vital role of law in American society and to foster a deeper understanding of the legal profession. Across Nebraska, trial court judges and Judicial Branch staff participate in various activities to mark the occasion, such as the 5th Grade Job Shadow program, Supreme Court traveling argument sessions, and judges serving as guest speakers at educational institutions to educate students.
