NEW RULES FOR ATTORNEY LICENSURE EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 2025

  • DEADLINE EXTENDED: ATTORNEY LICENSE RENEWAL BEGINS NOVEMBER 1st AND ENDS JANUARY 31st.
  • LATE FEE OF $125 APPLIES FEBRUARY 1st FOR ANY NON-PAYMENT OF MANDATORY ASSESSMENT or DELINQUENT MCLE REPORT.  DELINQUENT MANDATORY ASSESSMENT PAYMENTS OR MCLE REPORTS ARE SUBJECT TO ADMINISTRATIVE SUSPENSION OR CHANGE IN STATUS BEGINNING MARCH 1st.
  • ATTORNEYS MAY NOT RENEW THEIR LICENSE WITHOUT FIRST COMPLYING WITH THE SUPREME COURT'S ATTORNEY SUCCESSION PLANNING RULES (Neb. Ct. R. §§ 3-1101 et seq.)

ATTORNEY CERTIFICATES OF GOOD STANDING

Certificate of Good Standing Requests (will be mailed unless specifically requested in the comments to be sent by email with address provided). $5 fee associated with Certificates of Good Standing.

LAW FIRM CERTIFICATES OF AUTHORITY

Certificate of Authority Requests.  As of July 1, 2023, all professional organizations shall electronically submit the $25 fee and all required documents to obtain a Certificate of Authority from the Nebraska Supreme Court to operate in this state.  The $25 fee is to be paid through the online portal.  Any request or payment received by non-electronic means will be returned.  Please see Neb. Ct. R. §§ 3-201 et seq. or 3-601 et seq. to download the appropriate appendix for submission to the Clerk of the Supreme Court at certauthority@nejudicial.gov.

Education for Lawyers

  • Guardian ad Litem in Guardianship/Conservatorship Proceedings
    • Required 6 hour training: Nebraska Judicial Branch Education provides the initial 6 hour guardian ad litem course required by Supreme Court rule which serves to allow an attorney to be listed as an approved GAL in probate proceedings.   The initial 6 hour requirement can only be met by attending a live course which is based on the approved curriculum. To obtain a user name and password to access the course log into your Attorney Services Account and choose the selection for Probate GAL education.  Registration for a course will require the on-line payment of $25.00.  Your user credentials to enter the course will be e-mailed to you.  For assistance call the help desk at 531-510-3641.
