Supreme Court Justice Lindsey Miller-Lerman to Retire End of October

Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court, Lindsey Miller-Lerman, is retiring effective October 31, 2025. Miller-Lerman represents the Second Judicial District of Nebraska’s Supreme Court. 

In her retirement letter to the Governor and the Chief Justice, Miller-Lerman noted, “It has been a privilege to serve the citizens of Nebraska as an appellate judge since 1992.”

Nebraska Court of Appeals to Convene at Omaha College of Saint Mary on Constitution Day

The Nebraska Court of Appeals will be in session on the campus of Omaha’s College of Saint Mary on Constitution Day: September 17, 2025. The Court of Appeals will divide into its customary two panels with three judges each to hold legal arguments at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on campus in the Gross Auditorium, 7000 Mercy Road, Omaha, Nebraska.

Supreme Court Honors Probation Professionals During Proclamation Ceremony

On Monday, July 21, 2025, the Nebraska Supreme Court held a proclamation ceremony to recognize Nebraska Probation Supervision Week, celebrated statewide from July 21–25.

The ceremony was hosted by Justice Jason Bergevin, who now serves as the Supreme Court’s liaison to the probation division, and featured remarks from Nebraska’s new State Probation Administrator, Gene Cotter.

Chief Justice Funke to Lead 2025 Summer Tour of Southwest Nebraska

Chief Justice Jeffrey Funke and participating justices of the Nebraska Supreme Court will take part in the 2025 Summer Tour from August 11-13, traveling through the southwest region of the state. Continuing a valued Court tradition, the justices will visit communities outside of Lincoln to strengthen relationships with local judges, court and probation staff, and observe programs and services that impact Nebraskans at the local level.

Judge Bishop Inspires Future Leaders at Girls State with Insights from the Bench and the Classroom

Nebraska Court of Appeals Judge Riko Bishop returned to the place where her own journey in civic leadership began—the American Legion Auxiliary Nebraska Cornhusker Girls State program. Judge Bishop, who participated in Girls State in 1973, met with five students appointed as judges to the Nebraska Court of Appeals for an engaging and educational conversation about Nebraska’s judicial branch.
