Scams Continue Through Email and Phone with False Court Notifications

A court email scam has surfaced in Southeast Nebraska, notifying individuals of non-existent court dates.

In response to the ever-changing number of email and phone scams perpetrated against the public, the Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Division created a reporting system for those who receive false information.

Nebraska Court of Appeals to Convene at Wayne State College on September 16, 2021

The Nebraska Court of Appeals will be in session on the campus of Wayne State College on September 16, 2021. The Court of Appeals will divide into their customary two panels with three judges each to hold arguments at 9:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. on campus in the Student Center, 1111 Main St, Wayne, Nebraska.

Supreme Court Back in Courtroom for Fall Term

Justices will resume their seats in the Nebraska Supreme Court courtroom beginning August 31, marking the first oral argument of the 2021 fall term. The courtroom has been under construction since April 2020, when the Capitol Commission began Phase 2 of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Upgrade project. The Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals have been sharing the Court of Appeals chamber since Phase 2 of the project began. The Court of Appeals courtroom was updated during Phase 1 of the project. Both courtrooms are now available to their intended occupants.

Lancaster County Celebrates Creation of DUI Court

Darla Ideus, Judge of the Lancaster County District Court, hosted a court ceremony to celebrate the establishment of the DUI (Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol) Court in Lincoln, NE.

Speakers during the inaugural ceremony included Governor Pete Ricketts, Chief Justice Michael Heavican, County Attorney Pat Condon, National Center for DUI Courts Project Director Julie Seitz, Nebraska Highway Safety Office Administrator Bill Kovarik, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Program Manager Andrea Frazier.
