Two Graduates Celebrated at Douglas County Young Adult Court Graduation
The Douglas County Young Adult Court celebrated the graduation of two participants at the Douglas County Courthouse in Omaha on March 18, 2026, with Judge Shelly Stratman presiding. The ceremony marks the completion of an intensive program of comprehensive mental health treatment, intensive community supervision, and full accountability. This is a great achievement, and we proudly celebrate their success.
Young Adult Drug Courts provide an alternative pathway through the criminal justice system for nonviolent individuals with drug-related offenses. Operating within the existing court structure, these courts use a specialized, team-based approach to address substance use disorders and reduce recidivism.
The program is designed to enhance public safety while improving participants’ chances of long-term rehabilitation. This is achieved through the use of validated risk and need assessments, early and individualized behavioral health treatment, frequent and random drug testing, a system of incentives and sanctions, and access to a range of supportive rehabilitative and ancillary services.
