Two Graduate from Lancaster County Veterans Treatment Court
On March 18, 2026, the Lancaster County Veterans Treatment Court honored the graduation of two participants during a ceremony held at the Lancaster County City Council Chambers in Lincoln. The event recognized the successful completion of a rigorous program that combines comprehensive mental health treatment, intensive community supervision, and a strong emphasis on personal accountability. Judges Kevin McManaman and John Colborn presided over the ceremony.
Veterans Treatment Courts offer an alternative pathway through the criminal justice system for nonviolent offenders with drug-related charges. Operating within the existing court framework, they rely on a specialized, team-based approach to address participants’ needs. These courts are designed to reduce recidivism and substance use among individuals with substance use disorders while enhancing public safety. By using validated risk and need assessments, providing early and individualized behavioral health treatment, conducting frequent and random chemical testing, and applying a system of incentives, sanctions, and supportive services, Veterans Treatment Courts help participants build a foundation for lasting rehabilitation.
