Northeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court Volunteers at Mercy Meals

The Northeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court hosted its annual community service event at Mercy Meals in Norfolk on June 9 and 10. Drug court team members and participants worked together to package nutritious meals that will be distributed both domestically and internationally to support disaster relief efforts and help combat hunger.

The meals consist of a scientifically developed, protein-rich blend of white rice, soy flakes, dried vegetables, and chicken-flavored seasoning fortified with 20 essential vitamins and minerals. With a shelf life of two to three years and minimal preparation requirements, these meals provide a critical food source for individuals and families affected by natural disasters and other emergencies.

During the two-day event, volunteers packed 17 boxes containing a total of 6,048 meals.

Mercy Meals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food assistance to vulnerable and underserved populations. The meals prepared during this event will be shipped to communities in need, both across the United States and around the world.

The Northeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court’s commitment to service reflects the program’s emphasis on accountability, community engagement, and giving back. Through projects like this, participants have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping build stronger, healthier communities.
