Nebraska Probation is proud to partner with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) as a host agency for the Regional Field Initiative, a collaborative effort designed to strengthen community corrections through training, resource sharing, and professional networking.

The Regional Field Initiative supports federal, state, and local agencies by providing access to high-quality training opportunities and fostering connections among corrections professionals across the country. As a host agency, Nebraska Probation has the opportunity to bring nationally recognized training programs directly to Nebraska staff.

Representing Nebraska in this effort is Judicial Branch Education Trainer Niki Svik, who serves as the state's Regional Field Coordinator. In this role, Niki advocates for excellence in training at both the regional and national levels. Her responsibilities include training national level curricula across the country, representing Nebraska at monthly virtual meetings, and annual planning sessions, as well as collaborating with corrections professionals from across the nation to identify training needs and opportunities.

A significant benefit of the partnership is that all costs associated with Regional Field Initiative programs and training are funded by the National Institute of Corrections. Nebraska Probation's commitment is to host and support these training events, creating valuable professional development opportunities for Judicial Branch staff while strengthening partnerships within the corrections community.
