History-Making Achievement for Language Access Program
The Nebraska Judicial Branch Language Access Program is proud to recognize Sunkist Judson on achieving Provisional Certification as a Karen interpreter.
This accomplishment marks a historic milestone for the program, as Mr. Judson is the first Interpreter Partner in Language Access Program history to advance to Provisional Certification. After more than a decade of service supporting Nebraska courts and probation offices, he successfully completed the certification requirements, including passing the written examination and demonstrating superior Karen language proficiency through a nationally recognized Oral Proficiency Interview.
Unlike Certified status, which is earned by passing the National Center for State Courts oral certification examination, Provisional Certification is awarded in languages for which no state court certification exam exists. To qualify, interpreters must demonstrate superior language proficiency and meet rigorous education, experience, and professional standards established by the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Mr. Judson’s achievement reflects both his dedication to professional excellence and the success of the Language Access Program’s efforts to develop and advance qualified interpreters, further strengthening access to justice for Nebraska’s diverse communities.
