Central Nebraska Problem-Solving Courts Celebrate Problem-Solving Court Month

The District 9 Problem-Solving Courts—including the Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court, Hall County Reentry Court, and Central Nebraska Drug Court—hosted a “Paint and Take” event, on May 28, 2026, in recognition of Problem-Solving Court Month. The event brought together Judge John Marsh, problem-solving court participants, Veterans Treatment Court mentors, family members, and friends for an afternoon of creativity and connection.

The “Paint and Take” initiative was developed through Nebraska Veterans Helping Fellow Veterans (NVHFV). The concept was created by current Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court participant Daniel Lebida and mentor Wilbur Cox, with support from Kris Widga, Central Nebraska Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Coordinator, and the Staff Sergeant Fox Program.

According to Lebida and Cox, “Paint and Take” is a free community event where veterans, their families, and community members come together to participate in a fun crafting activity. The goal is to foster camaraderie, support, and connection while promoting mental and physical well-being among veterans and those around them.

The first “Paint and Take” event was held in October 2024, and the program has hosted monthly events since its inception, providing ongoing opportunities for veterans and community members to build relationships and strengthen their support networks.
