Hilary Roit Chosen to Lead County Court in Geneva

Hilary Roit, who previously worked as the Assistant Clerk of the District Court/Clerk's Office in Fillmore County, has been selected to serve as Fillmore County Court Clerk Magistrate in Geneva. Her official work as Clerk Magistrate begins November 1, 2025.

“Hilary’s familiarity with the inner workings of the judicial system, attention to detail, and ability to manage administrative responsibilities will ensure a smooth transition and enable her to lead the County Court office with confidence and efficiency,” according to Trial Court Services Director Sara Fowler.

County court clerk magistrates work under the general direction of the presiding county judge supervising, assigning, and directing the work of all staff within the county court. The position carries a high level of responsibility for the people, paperwork, finances, and records of the court. Roit will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency of the court’s administrative functions and for investigating and evaluating potential procedural changes.

Roit will work in the 10th Judicial District with fellow clerk magistrates Tom Hawes of Hastings, Julie Bergen of Clay Center, Darcie Porter of Franklin and Alma, Laura Tobiassen of Minden, Diane Wehrman of Nelson, Darrie Streeter of Holdrege, and Jolene Duffy of Red Cloud. The 10th District includes Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Franklin, Harlan, Kearney, Nuckolls, Phelps, and Webster. Judges Michael Burns, Michael Mead, and Natalie Nelsen-Pacey preside over the courts and direct the magistrates in the 10th District.

Roit replaces former Clerk Magistrate Cindy Carrigan who retires on October 31 after 40 years of service to the court system.
