District Court Judge Timothy P. Burns to Retire October 30, 2026
District Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial District, Timothy P. Burns, is retiring October 30, 2026.
In his retirement announcement to Governor Pillen, Judge Burns noted, “…it has been a blessing each day to serve the interest of Douglas County. It has been an honor and a pleasure serving as a District Court Judge.”
Judge Burns has served the citizens of Douglas County (Fourth Judicial District) from 2011 to his upcoming retirement in 2026. After taking the bench in 2011, area voters retained Judge Burns in his position, most recently in 2020.
The first step in replacing Judge Burns will be for the Judicial Resources Commission to call a meeting to determine whether, based on judicial workload statistics, his retirement creates a judicial vacancy on the County Court for the Fourth Judicial District.
