Chief Justice Funke to Deliver 2026 State of the Judiciary Address on January 22
Chief Justice Jeffrey Funke will give his second annual State of the Judiciary address to state senators at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the Legislative Chamber.

Chief Justice Funke gives the State of the Judiciary address at the invitation of the Speaker of the Legislature, Senator John Arch. This address is the Chief Justice’s opportunity to highlight the work of the Judicial Branch and provide relevant information directly to lawmakers. Funke will provide an overview of the activities of the Nebraska Judicial Branch projects involving the state’s nearly 150 judges and over 1,600 non-judicial employees in courthouses and probation offices across the state. The State of the Judiciary has been part of the agenda of the Unicameral since 2008.
